Canon 6D Part II

December 03, 2012  •  Leave a Comment

As I mentioned in the last post I purchased the Canon 6D and the 24-105 lens over the weekend and luckily I had a family portrait session scheduled for Saturday at the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Earlier that morning I took my kids to the park just to make sure I would be comfortable enough to use it on a paid job. I was truly amazed at the level of detail that was captured even before importing the unedited images into LR. And it was actually a joy to take a few shots with the Sigma 85mm because I did not have to back up the 30 feet or so I normally would when using that lens for family portraits.

Photography has opened up a whole new world to me. As a child I will admit that I was pretty bad at trying to create anything. When it came to sports and playing the piano I excelled. When it came to drawing, painting, sculpting, wood working… Lets just say I never wanted to bring any of those items home from school to show may parents :-) . In high school and my freshman year of college I took a few courses on photography and I really enjoyed going out and trying to create nice images. But back in those days photography was not cheap. I am not saying that photography is cheap now but back then you had to keep track of how many photographs you were taking back then and in high school and college funds did not runneth over. Over the course of the last few weeks I have gone back and viewed some of the images I have taken over the course of the last year and half and I am kind of proud! I realize that I still have so much to learn and I probably only know 20% of what I need to know but over the course of the next 40 years I hope to get there :-) . Not only have I gotten to meet and photograph some pretty wonderful folks but I have also gotten to know a little about quite a few people here in the blogosphere. The criticism’s and the compliments have allowed me to improve my photography as well as gather some new ideas and for that I am very thankful!

The images below are from the portrait session that I mentioned earlier and not only did I have a great time but it was the first time ever that I did a shoot under an hour and I felt as though I was able to provide enough images that they got their monies worth. Dalton their baby boy was just full of smiles and giggles and it was a joy to work with such a happy baby.
