Last month Marcus wanted me to take some photographs of his family at Brookside Botanical Gardens which is just outside of Washington D.C. While waiting for him to arrive I took a walk around the park to see if there was anything interesting to photograph. Of about the 20 pictures taken of the grounds the photo below is my favorite. I am tempted to go back and crop this photograph just a little because of the couple that appears in the far left side of this photograph. When I set up this shot I did see the couple in my frame and decided to keep them in the picture. I had walked behind the couple earlier and I noticed that the man was massaging the woman’s temples. She also appeared to be 7 or 8 months pregnant and she was just leaning back and enjoying the view. I thought by keeping them in the frame it would add to the story but since no one else will know why they are in the frame it just detracts from the overall image especially due to where they appear in the frame. I am looking at a 11X14 print of this image while I create this blog post and I think that I will have to remove them to make the image stronger. Am I thinking too much about this? What do you think? Thanks!
