Top Locations for an Engagement & Portrait Sessions Near Howard County Maryland


  1. Historic Ellicott City Maryland  is a great place for an engagement session.  You have the B&O Railroad museum,  The Patapsco Female Institute Historic Park, Firehouse Museum and the quaint town itself makes for a wonderful backdrop for an engagement session.


  1. Historic Savage Mill is another wonderful place for an engagement session.  Savage Mill is filled with lots of charm with a mix of interesting shops.   It is truly a unique location that combines an historic mill with interesting shops and dining.  The entire town is photogenic!



  1. Fells Point is listed as one of the most haunted places in America.  Need I say more?  Besides possible ghosts there are numerous bars and restaurants that line the cobble stoned streets.  Quite a few locations can be used to capture the harbor of Baltimore as a backdrop in the photographs.


  1. Are you a huge fan of animals?  Then the National Zoo is a place to consider utilizing.  For a large tip we can bribe someone to place you on top of the polar bears.   When they see the camera I am sure they will behave and pose for a few photographs. 



  1. Historic Downtown  Annapolis has many things to offer.  The Naval Academy, State Capitol Building, The State Circle, The Maritime Museum, The wharf and Maryland Avenue are just a few of the places that we can visit.  Quite Waters Park is also only about 10 minute drive from here.


  1. Brookside Gardens is a fantastic location if you want to walk around and smell the roses.  I mean literally you can smell the roses and the other numerous flowers you will encounter during the stroll.  The park is made up of 50 acres of lush gardens.   You have the Aquatic garden, Butterfly garden, Japanese-styled garden & a Fragrance Garden.  This is one of our favorite locations for engagement sessions because they have ponds and hidden trails and did I mention roses?



  1. Glen Echo Park is just outside of Georgetown and  it is a very popular location among photographers.  On any given weekend you will find quite a few engagement sessions in progress.   On site you have a carousel and Marcus and I love carousels.  You get to ride round and round in circles and who doesn’t love that!  The park is surrounded by green foliage and is nestled next to the Potomac.  There are a few paths to traverse and it is a fun place for an engagement session.


  1. Allen Pond in Bowie is a very scenic location for family portraits and engagement sessions.  There are paddleboats and a gazebo on a hill that overlooks the park.



  1. For the thrill seeking couple there is Adventure Park USA which is located in New Market Maryland. The park offers Bumper Boats, Mini Golf and the Wildcat Roller Coaster. 
  2. The grounds and gardens of the Cylburn Arboretum in Baltimore City are beautifully maintained.  Trees line quite a few of the trails and you can always find shade on a hot sunny day.   The mansion is true gem and there is quite a lot areas to utilize on the property for an engagement session.


  1. The campus of Johns Hopkins University is filled with locations for a session.


  1. The Mount Vernon area of Baltimore features the Washington Monument and Mount Vernon Park.  The surrounding park and neighborhood is an interesting area for your session.



  1.  Cunningham State Park features the largest waterfall in Maryland.  It is a short hike to the falls but for those that don’ t mind getting a little adventurous during their session it is well worth it!


  1.  Though not necessarily cheap the Baltimore Aquarium is a unique place for your engagement session.  Outside of the Aquarium you can tour a few of the ships that are docked nearby.



  1.  Sherwood Gardens is known for their Tulips and Dogwood trees.  The best time to schedule an engagement session there is April.  When the Tulips are in full bloom the garden takes on a magical air to it. 


  1.  Calvert Cliffs is a bit of a hike from Howard County.  This park is located in Southern Maryland but there are many scenic trails that lead to the beach.   The trails leading to the beach are all under 2 miles but if you don’t mind the hike you are rewarded with the view of the cliffs from the beach.  



  1.  Ladew Topiary Gardens contains numerous backdrops for photographs.   The mansion itself is very picturesque.   The gardens on the property are incredibly large and the Lilly Pond garden is a favorite amongst visitor’s.
